Introduction

The Manhattan Chapter was chartered in 1992, following the establishment of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. in 1981. The parent organization has its roots in the Coalition of 100 Black Women, founded in New York City in 1970 by a group of African-American women, including Edna Beach and Jewell Jackson McCabe[2].
