On Monday and Tuesday, May 21st and 22nd, Green Mountain Self-Advocates (GMSA) ran a two-day Leadership Retreat at the Killington Grand Hotel in Killington, Vermont. The Self-Advocates who attended were graduates of the Vermont Leadership series, a series where people with disabilities, family members, and allies learn to become better leaders in disability rights and how. At the retreat, a topic that we presented was on, "What is Leadership?" We also had the Self-Advocates discuss outcomes on what is our storybook ending for GMSA 20 years from now and why they are important, valuable. We also got into what we need to become a leader and maintain that. For example: Physical needs, emotional needs, mental needs, social (Relationship) needs, higher self (Purpose and growth) needs, and spiritual needs. Everyone who attended came up with great ideas on how Green Mountain Self-Advocates (GMSA) can move forward and had a great time at the retreat. (fb)
