Gulf of Maine Institute Inc
GOMI’s mission is to educate the larger community and prepare our youth to be environmentally conscious stewards in their community. GOMI has over 2 decades of experience in experiential environmental education. We prepare students by teaching science literacy, civic engagement, and promoting confidence through our model of Community-Based Stewardship. Alarmed at the spiraling environmental degradation of the Gulf of Maine eco-system and concerned that today's youth were becoming alienated from nature, a group of scientists, educators and environmentalists from throughout the watershed convened to form GOMI in 1999.

Due to climate change the Gulf of Maine is warming faster than any other comparable body of water on Earth. Such drastic change impairs its ability to provide ecosystem services and maintain biodiversity ultimately impacting the wellbeing of all of the watershed.
