MADDIE'S MISSION IS COMMITTED TO RAISING AWARENESS, PROMOTING EDUCATION AND GENERATING FUNDING FOR RESEARCH AND CLINICAL TRIALS THAT WILL PROVIDE MEANINGFUL TREATMENT FOR ANGELMAN SYNDROME AND OTHER RARE DISEASES. MADDIE'S MISSION WORKS TO SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS INSTRUMENTAL IN PROMOTING THE HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN LIVING WITH ANGELMAN SYNDROME, OR OTHER DIFFERENT NEEDS, INCLUDING THOSE ORGANIZATIONS ADVANCING THE RESEARCH AND TREATMENT OF ANGELMAN SYNDROME.

Maddie's Mission Foundation

Maddie's Mission Foundation is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by Angelman syndrome, a rare and complex neurogenetic disorder. The foundation was established after the parents of Maddie Sargent, diagnosed with Angelman syndrome in 2020, sought to create resources and opportunities for those living with this condition.

Mission

The primary mission of Maddie's Mission Foundation is to ensure that individuals with Angelman syndrome have access to expert medical care. The foundation aims to facilitate this by supporting the establishment of specialized clinics and promoting research in treatments for the syndrome. It also advocates for the comprehensive development of children with this condition by providing educational and therapeutic resources.

Achievements

One of the significant achievements of Maddie's Mission Foundation is the establishment of an Angelman Syndrome Clinic at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. This clinic provides much-needed specialized care for children with Angelman syndrome in the region. Additionally, the foundation has created the Madison Lauren Sargent Endowed Professorship in Angelman Syndrome to support further research and development in this field.

In 2023, Maddie's Mission raised over $250,000, marking significant progress in its fundraising efforts, which are crucial for sustaining its programs and supporting ongoing research.

Programs and Partnerships
  • Angelman Syndrome Clinic Support: The foundation collaborates with Children's Mercy Hospital to ensure continuous access to specialized healthcare services for Angelman syndrome patients.
  • Research and Development: Maddie's Mission works closely with research institutions to advance the understanding and treatment of Angelman syndrome. This includes partnering with organizations like the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics and The Angelman Syndrome Foundation.
  • Therapy and Community Support: In addition to medical support, the foundation also provides funding for additional therapy options and adaptive equipment for children, enhancing their quality of life.

Maddie's Mission Foundation has become a pivotal organization in the rare disease community, particularly for families dealing with Angelman syndrome, by fostering hope, support, and access to critical resources.
