Northern New Mexico Folklore Institute
To work with young children teaching them how to build a cigar box guitar. The goal it to allow students to use their creative minds, to get hands on experience, and develop their self esteem by providing an essential element through music. They learn to play a musical instrument, but above all, they get to keep their guitars. In addition to providing creativity, it steers the students towards a sense of worth and pride.
