Archipelago Books - Contemporary & Classic World Literature

find us on Bluesky: https://t.co/thz3Q8spbI Archipelago Books is an independent literary press committed to cross-cultural, linguistic, and intellectual exploration. We are striving to locate, support, and preserve literary talent worldwide and allow it to enter the American bloodstream. The not-for-profit press will bring to a wide audience an eclectic selection of new international literature and world classics that remain unavailable in translation. There is a pressing need to hear diverse voices from varied literary traditions. According to a recent NEA study, roughly 100,000 books are published each year in this country and only about 300 of these are literary translations (fiction and poetry). Archipelago Books will publish works from all corners of the world that are often overlooked by commercially-driven presses (and increasingly by university presses). Multiculturalism and multi-lingualism are inseparable. Archipelago will bring out a broad array of international poetry and prose. Although important literary voices in the English language will not be ignored, a vital goal of the press is to increase and deepen the American public?s awareness of other literary traditions, of other historical and social perspectives. Seeking to develop a wider audience for international fiction and poetry in this country, we will work in partnership with like-minded national and international organizations.
