The mission of the Sacramento Historical Society is to preserve and promote the historical heritage of the Sacramento region; to educate and enlighten the public with regard to the importance of Sacramento's history and to promote a greater awareness of, and to act as a resource for, inquiries regarding Sacramento regional history. ​ Our vision is to unite people to preserve and promote Sacramento's golden history. This region has a treasure trove of history to appreciate and discover.

Sacramento Historical Society | Sacramento History SacrAmerica History Trivia Night Rescheduled for MidAprilNew Date TBD The Trap Bar Invitation to Submit Manuscripts for SHS Golden Notes The Sacramento Historical Societys Golden Notes have been published by the Society since 1954 with the goal of sustaining a lively interest in the history of the Sacramento Region and to contribute to the knowledge of that history. To help meet that goal the Society invites scholars students and history enthusiasts to submit manuscripts that will be published by the Society about the people institutions and events of the Sacramento Region throughout its history. The Golden Notes are intended to be brief manuscripts on specific topics and are limited to 10000 words. For further information please email the Editors at sacramentohistoricalsocietygmail.
