This led to the creation of a three-team league in 1939, with the first game played on June 6, 1939, between the Lundy Lumber, Lycoming Dairy, and Jumbo Pretzel teams. Initially sponsored by local businesses for $30 each, the league aimed to provide a structured and wholesome environment for children to learn sportsmanship and teamwork.

Little League Baseball Inc. is structured with local leagues operating at the community level, each establishing its own boundaries to ensure participation by local children. These leagues are supported by District Administrators who oversee several leagues and report to Regional Directors.
