Strengthening 2-parent families within African-American culture by promoting marriage.Black Family Preservation Group, Inc. advocates for black families by: • Identifying the obstacles that tear our families apart; • Disseminating news, events and published research studies about African-American families; • Conducting and publishing research on black families and efforts to strengthen them; • Promoting positive images of black families; • Encouraging the preservation of the traditional two-parent family to black youth, teens, young adults, married and unmarried couples.Our core program services focus on:• Improving the image of black families in general;• Marriage education, marriage readiness, marriage enrichment and parenting programs• Reentry Programs specifically addressing reunification following incarceration and maintaining parental relationships in preparation for returning home following incarceration;• Healthcare through obesity prevention and family nutrition using parents as healthy lifestyle role models; community gardening as a means of increasing urban families' access to fruits and vegetables;• Wealth Building as it relates to creating a legacy for future generations;• Education, focusing on preparing husbands and wives for obtaining skills needed to maintain a career that will support the family;• Housing, with a focus on recovering from natural disasters to ensure that black families survive catastrophic events.
