Project New Yorker | A Learning Center for Women & Youth

A learning center for immigrant women and youth. Instagram/ProjectNewYorker Project New Yorker, a Queens-based learning center for the South Asian community, particularly Bangladeshi immigrants. Bangladeshi immigrants in NYC encounter a range of socio-economic hurdles, including significant language barriers, as about 53% of immigrants experience Limited English Proficiency. The economic participation of Bangladeshi immigrants is often characterized by lower-wage occupations and significant involvement in the informal sector, such as driving taxis, operating food carts, and working in the hospitality industry. These jobs typically offer limited job security and benefits. Our mission is to improve the livelihood of under-resourced immigrant women and youth by providing social and economic empowerment services required to achieve self-sufficiency.
