We stopped by the newly protected Boehmler Pond property today to hear from Mike Ward of the Outdoor Club of Port Jervis and Mayor Dominic Cicalese of the City of Port Jervis, NY about upcoming trail and recreational improvements. Among those joining us for the update were County Executive Steve Neuhaus and Tom Faggione, Orange County Legislator, 13th District. Our trail improvement project at Moonbeams Preserve is complete! The addition of sidehill benching, stone steps, and timber box steps now allows visitors to traverse a sloping abutment that previously separated two trails. The abutment dates back to the New York, Ontario & Western Railway, when it supported a trestle over the Shawangunk Kill. (fb)
