The concept of Little League began when Carl Stotz, an oil clerk and avid baseball fan, organized games for his nephew and other local children in 1938. The first official Little League game took place on June 6, 1939, marking the beginning of an international movement.

Over the years, Little League expanded rapidly, with its first expansion beyond Pennsylvania occurring in 1947 when a league was established in New Jersey. By the late 1940s, Little League had grown to include leagues in multiple states. The organization was officially incorporated in the United States on October 10, 1950.
