History

The WSAAI originated from the West Coast Allergy Society, with its first meeting held in December 1961 in San Francisco, California. Over the years, it has evolved to address cutting-edge topics such as immune tolerance, food sensitivities, and advancements in bronchodilators and pulmonary function studies.

As of recent data, key leadership positions include David Elkayam, MD, as President; Rene Anderson-Cowell, MD, as Immediate Past President; and Andrew White, MD, as Program Director and President Elect. Members comprise physicians and healthcare professionals from across the United States and internationally.

It provides a platform for interaction with leading researchers and clinicians and offers continuing medical education opportunities.

Educational Programs

The WSAAI plays a significant role in promoting educational programs that help practicing physicians better treat and manage their patients. It focuses on topics such as food allergy, immunotherapy, asthma management, and emerging therapies in the field.

Partnerships and Community Engagement

The society encourages partnerships with organizations interested in advancing allergy, asthma, and immunology. It supports initiatives like the Emerging Allergist Scholarship Program to attract promising young professionals into the field.
