The underlying goal of the organization is to empower people to become independent and counteract the root of the problem causing their suffering. Description

Global Shout

Global Shout is a U.S.-based 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization, founded by students at Georgetown University in 2005 as Global S.H.O.U.T. (Students Helping Orphans in Underprivileged Territories) [1][2]. Initially focused on the education and care of orphaned children in underdeveloped countries, the organization has undergone a significant transformation. It dropped its acronym and rebranded between 2019 and 2020, expanding its scope to address diverse humanitarian needs worldwide [1][2].

Mission and Principles

Global Shout operates under four core humanitarian principles: humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence [1]. The organization prioritizes flexibility, allowing real-time needs to dictate its projects rather than adhering to a fixed agenda. This approach includes providing essential goods, teaching daily skills, rebuilding communities, and collaborating with local NGOs to ensure sustainable impacts [1][2].

Projects

Global Shout has been involved in various projects across multiple continents, focusing on areas such as education, health, sanitation, and diplomacy. Notable projects include supporting formerly kidnapped schoolgirls in Chibok, Nigeria, by funding and constructing a secondary school for their education; equipping a local hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan; and assisting Rohingya refugees in Myanmar. The organization also completed water and sanitation projects in West Africa [1].

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical shifts, Global Shout has been actively engaged in projects supporting Afghan refugees. This includes providing transportation assistance through a partnership with Uber and offering medical and financial aid to Afghan refugees in the United States. Additionally, they are involved in rebuilding and equipping the Aliabad Teaching Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan [2].

Goals and Objectives

The organization's core objectives are:

  • Ensure Basic Human Rights: Advocate for fundamental rights for all individuals.
  • Health and Survival: Provide medical assistance and improve water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions.
  • Protect Vulnerable Groups: Safeguard those at risk of exploitation.
  • Data Collection and Awareness: Gather data and raise awareness through journalism.
  • Diplomatic Efforts: Pursue diplomatic agendas to prevent atrocities and advocate for policy changes at the governmental level [1].

Operational Strategy

Global Shout emphasizes empowering communities by giving them a voice and enabling them to address the roots of their problems independently. The organization works closely with local communities and NGOs to ensure long-term sustainability of its projects [1][2].
