We are the United States Bowling Congress, the National Governing Body for bowling. Our mission is to provide services, resources and standards for the sport. The Young American Bowling Alliance is the premier international youth organization in the sport of tenpin bowling. We are committed to providing exciting opportunities for the personal development of youth.

Young American Bowling Alliance

The Young American Bowling Alliance (YABA) was a prominent organization in the United States dedicated to youth bowling. It was formed in 1982 through the merger of the American Junior Bowling Congress (AJBC) and the Youth Bowling Association (YBA)[1][3]. YABA served as the leading organization for youth bowling for 23 years, focusing on promoting healthy competition, physical fitness, sportsmanship, and good citizenship among young bowlers[1][3].

History and Mission

YABA was established to provide youth with the opportunity to learn and participate in organized bowling. It emphasized the importance of maintaining amateur status while encouraging participation in bowling events. The organization played a crucial role in developing programs for youth bowlers under the age of 22, with nearly 400,000 members at its peak[2].

Merger and Legacy

In 2005, YABA merged with other major bowling organizations, including the American Bowling Congress (ABC), Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC), and USA Bowling, to form the United States Bowling Congress (USBC)[1][2]. This consolidation aimed to streamline efforts and services within the bowling community. Despite the merger, YABA's legacy continues to influence youth bowling programs through the USBC.

Programs and Activities

YABA was known for its national junior bowling championships and various awards for outstanding performances, such as medals and rings for achieving high scores like a 300 game or a 700 series[3]. These events and recognitions motivated young bowlers to pursue excellence in the sport.
