Get Outside is committed to providing youth opportunities to incorporate outdoor recreation into their lives for physical and mental health now and in the future. The revolution of information technology has quickly caused a shift in the lifestyles of youth. Multiple studies have shown the negative effects of both sedentary life and mass consumption of media. There is also a body of evidence showing the positive effects of decreased screen time and increased active time in a natural environment. Many youth face barriers to the outdoors, including lack of opportunity, training, and money. Our mission is to help youth overcome these barriers by providing opportunity, education, and financial assistance, and establish healthy lifestyles to benefit their wellness now and in the future.
