The mission of the Portland Bridge Swim is, first, to provide a safe, high-quality marathon swimming race. Additionally, the Portland Bridge Swim is working to gradually change Portland’s relationship with its river by drawing attention to the improving health of the Willamette River. Swimmers become ambassadors for the river and have a personal stake in making sure its health continues to improve.
