Historic Washington Foundation Historic Washington Foundation Preserving the history of Washington Arkansas About Us The Historic Washington Foundation formerly Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation is Arkansas oldest preservation organization founded in 1958. The foundation was organized because its early founders recognized the unique collection of 19thCentury structures existing in Washington and wanted to interpret the history of this historically significant town. One of their goals was to establish a state park to create programming and maintain manage and promote the park for visitors. The foundation now maintains eight significant properties within the boundaries of Historic Washington State Park and continues its original goal to support the state park and keep properties open for visitors.
