MFD is a nonprofit that collects & distributes new mittens & gloves to kids, teens and adults in need in Detroit. 1/4-Million pairs distributed since 2010. Mittens for Detroit, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that collects, purchases, and distributes new pairs of mittens and gloves to children, teens, and adults in need in Detroit and other nearby underserved cities in Michigan. Since 2010, more than 350,000 pairs have been donated or purchased through community engagement. Distribution of about 23,000 pairs per year is made through a network of partners including schools, medical facilities, veterans' organizations, senior centers, clothing pantries, food distribution centers, and other programs that serve people who are unhoused, unsheltered, or in transition in the community.

Our Community Collection Season runs from October 1st through January 10th annually. With growing and enthusiastic public and corporate support over 330000 pairs have been collected purchased and distributed since our start in 2010.
