CureSHANK's mission is to accelerate the development of treatments and cures for Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and other SHANK-related disorders. CureSHANK has a singular purpose: To accelerate the development of treatments for Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and SHANK-related disorders. Our approach is to identify and fund projects that overcome critical barriers to successful drug development and to coordinate scientific efforts to improve efficiency and speed in the field.

We work toward this goal by funding targeted research and holding scientific meetings to connect diverse stakeholders. CureSHANKs strategic priorities are projects that help to bridge the translational research gap between basic science and successful clinical trials. We identify and fund projects related to drug discovery and design preclinical development and one day early phase clinical trials.
