The organization was founded after Zewge Kagnew witnessed firsthand the severe lack of clean water in rural Ethiopia, which inspired him to collaborate with Eskender Tamrat and other Ethiopian-Americans to address this critical issue.

The mission of Stream of Hope Inc. is to improve the health status of target communities in Ethiopia by providing access to clean drinking water and proper sanitation. This effort aims to empower young girls and women by easing their burden of fetching water, thus enabling them to attend school and pursue education, breaking the cycle of poverty and hardship.

Stream of Hope has completed several projects across Ethiopia, including the installation of wells and spring expansion systems in numerous villages and schools.
