THE PRIMARY MISSION OF NAUW IS TO SPONSOR, PROMOTE AND CONDUCT EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES TO LEARNERS AT EVERY LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT; TO EXTEND ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WHO ARE OUT OF SCHOOL BUT HAVE NEED OF THOSE BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY TO FUNCTION EFFECTIVELY IN OUR SOCIETY; TO RAISE EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS IN COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES, AND INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING; TO SPONSOR, PROMOTE AND CONDUCT CONFERENCES, SEMINARS, SYMPOSIUMS, AND MEETINGS ON A NATIONAL, SECTIONAL, OR LOCAL LEVEL FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACHIEVING AND ADVANCING THE PURPOSES AFORESAID; TO COOPERATE WITH OTHER GROUPS, ASSOCIATIONS, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE AGENCIES WHICH MAY BE CONCERNED WITH COMMUNITY PROBLEMS, CULTURAL INTERESTS, AND EDUCATIONAL AND WORLD PROBLEMS; TO PROMOTE THE IMPROVEMENT OF EDUCATION AND, WHEN APPROPRIATE, TO ISSUE PUBLIC STATEMENTS CONCERNING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION.

Our organization is dedicated to fostering a strong sisterhood promoting education and literacy supporting mental health initiatives addressing food insecurity uplifting Historically Black Colleges and Universities HBCUs promoting political awareness and civic engagement and developing leadership among women.
