Founded in 1973, the MJDC is a collaborative body of dancer/collaborators, writers, composers and visual designers dedicated to an art that awakens, provokes, and encourages a deeper inquiry into oneself. Led by Margaret Jenkins, the MJDC has been a place for innovation, collaboration, experimentation, and evolution of the artistic process. Because we believe in the transformative power of dance, we seek to create environments where everyone feels safe, provoked and challenged. Through making work for audiences around the the world, as well as developing programs like CHIME (Choreographers in Mentorship Exchange) and Encounters Over 60, we propose, encourage, and sustain a dialogue with all who collaborate and all who witness.
