Whatcom County Medical Reserve Corps provides medical services for emergency response and preparedness, and public health emergencies, such as street medicine for vulnerable and unhoused communities. The Medical Reserve Corps is a State and Federal (National) network of local groups of volunteers engaging local communities to strengthen public health, reduce vulnerability, build resilience, and improve preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities.

Whatcom Street Medicine The team works outside of traditional healthcare setting meeting individuals where they are whether that be on the street in the alleys or in a homeless camp. Through building genuine relationships trust and rapport with clients the Whatcom Street Medicine team connects vulnerable people with healthcare services. Whatcom Street Medicine team makes rounds twice a week in the afternoon. Each team is partnered with a homeless outreach professional from the Opportunity Councils Homeless Outreach Team HOT Bridge 2 Services or Road2Home to act as a guide to the team and to connect individuals with community resources and social services.
