PaintBox Theatre

Follow Message Edit

PaintBox is a theatre of imagination and improvisation for all ages. We are based out of Northampton MA. For the last 15 years we have offered educational, exciting and interactive entertainment for no more than what it costs to go to the movies. We bring traditional stories and well-known picture books to life. When working with traditional stories we devote a lot of energy to reshaping the story to make sure it is fair. This leads to somewhat radical adaptations. Traditionally each show features three actors, the audience and a foley effects performer. The audience is always part of the show. We draft people to play speaking roles, while the whole audience serves as the narrator and joins in the action. As a way to encourage reading, throughout the show we project messages onto a screen.

I work in a nonprofit and listing our organization on Eduo.org helped us reach new audiences and even new volunteers. It’s easy to use and feels built with love.

Eduo.org helped me discover a small local organization doing amazing environmental work that I would’ve never found otherwise. It’s a hidden gem for socially conscious people.

As a volunteer, I love how Eduo.org empowers people to contribute locally. It feels like Wikipedia for good deeds — written by the people, for the people.
