Earth Week 🤝 National Volunteer Week TU’s grassroots community is truly one of a kind. Without our dedicated network of volunteers nationwide, our mission and vision for the future would not be possible. Their inspiring work—cleaning up trash, planting trees, leading restoration projects, teaching skills to new anglers and so much more—creates healthier watersheds, healthier fish, and healthier communities for all of us. Just how big is their impact? In 2024, TU Volunteers dedicated more than 630,000 hours to protecting, restoring, and reconnecting their local watersheds. That’s more than $20,700,000 in value. Before a single excavator rolls in, the groundwork has already been laid—by engineers. In Idaho, one of TU’s partners is RIVHAB Engineering Design, a woman-owned firm based in Eagle. Led by Jeanne McFall, a former Idaho Department of Game and Fish fisheries engineer, RIVHAB brings deep knowledge of habitat recovery and top-notch technical chops to the table. Using tools like drone-based LiDAR and hydraulic modeling, they help ensure TU’s restoration projects are scientifically sound, permit-ready, and built to last. Their work has supported floodplain reconnections with the Nez Perce Tribe, meadow restoration in Oregon with Trout Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy, and much more.
