CREW 309

CREW309 (Cancer Recovery by Empowering Women) is a nonprofit breast cancer survivors’ rowing team. Our focus is on recovery, physical fitness, and support of fellow survivors. The mission of CREW309 is to empower women to lower their breast cancer risk through the sport of rowing. It is well documented that 150 minutes of exercise each week will lower a breast cancer survivor’s risk of recurrence by up to 50%. Unlike medications or other long-term treatment options, exercise is an intervention that is available to ALL survivors, regardless of breast cancer subtype or risk. Additionally, this amount of exercise will also assist a previvor in lowering their risk of a possible diagnosis later down the line. Rowing as a team also provides a safe, supported environment for women to make friendships and support one another through the ups and downs of cancer survivorship.
