As we continue to celebrate National EMS Week, we want to thank our friends at EMS1 for sharing the story of the National EMS Memorial Service and Weekend of Honor, but most importantly, how we will honor and recognize our 29 EMS and air medical honorees in July. (fb)

The fact that this pilot was able to get that aircraft down in a densely populated area, with no tail rotor, and everyone walked away, is beyond a miracle! (fb)

National EMS Memorial Service The United States Official National EMS Memorial Service Welcome Mission The purpose of the National EMS Memorial Service is to remember and honor those emergency medical services personnel who have died in the lineofduty and to recognize the ultimate sacrifice each made for his fellow man. History The National EMS Memorial Service had its beginnings in Virginia in 1991 when a group from the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads VAVRS realized that although there were national police and fire memorials there was no mechanism in place to recognize the sacrifices being made by our nations emergency medical service EMS providers. They set out to correct this and in 1992 held a ceremony to recognize EMS providers who fell in the lineofduty. The first service had people from Florida and Alaska as well as Virginia six people total.
