Glue traps don’t discriminate. With spring here, we’ve seen an uptick in animals caught by these cruel devices. Glue traps ensnare not only insects but also unintended victims like birds, reptiles, and small mammals. The prolonged struggle on the sticky surface causes immense stress, serious injuries, and often leads to a slow and agonizing death. If you find an animal stuck in a glue trap, please do not try to free them yourself or use oil to loosen the glue. Oils can cause further harm by affecting breathing or damaging feathers and fur. Instead, bring the animal to WRR or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator so trained staff can safely help. There are humane ways to live alongside wildlife.
