THE PURPOSE OF THE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY SBCGS IS TO PROMOTE STUDY AND RESEARCH IN GENEALOGY BY PROVIDING ASSISTANCE AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PURSUING THEIR FAMILY HISTORY. THE SBCGS AIDS IN THE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION, AND PERPETUATION OF GENEALOGICAL RECORDS AND FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH MATERIALS; SUPPORTS A 20,000 VOLUME LIBRARY IN SANTA BARBARA CALIFORNIA SPECIALIZING IN GENALOGY AND LOCAL HISTORY; AND HOLDS MEETINGS, CLASSES, WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION ON GENEALOGICAL SUBJECTS.

Our Sahyun Library contains books periodicals and resources from around the world. For over 50 years weve amassed more than 200000 primarysource Santa Barbara records and indexes which have been digitized and are searchable here online. Our Society is operated entirely by volunteers who are enthusiastic about genealogy.
