The Power of Partnership The Municipal Electric and Gas Alliance MEGA was established by two counties who partnered in 1998 to help local minimize the cost of energy through competitive procurements and direct access to energy market expertise. MEGA uses the collective buying power of member counties local governments and school districts to do a public procurement process that secures competitively priced electricity natural gas and renewable power in the state of New York. The winners of those bids are Constellation Energy for electricity and NRG for natural gas. Their partnership with MEGA powers hundreds of localities and schools across the state.
