The California Association of Legal Document Assistants was established in August 1986, and was formerly known as "California Association of Independent Paralegals" (CAIP). CALDA is the premiere organization for legal document assistant professionals CALDA is focused on helping the public become aware of the Legal Document Assistant profession as distinct from the Paralegal profession. CALDA is committed to the continuing legal education of its members and to elevating the ethical standards of the LDA profession.
