Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, BARCS has been able to provide medical care to hundreds of animals each year through the Franky Fund. A pivotal factor in achieving this has been our partnerships with local veterinary hospitals and clinics. BARCS is so grateful for these partnerships, as they play a significant role in saving the lives of thousands of homeless shelter animals in need of emergency and specialized medical attention. This week, our heartfelt thanks go out to the wonderful team at Liberty Animal Clinic. The care provided by the LAC team has touched the lives of countless BARCS animals, including Debo, who received urgent treatment, all made possible by the incredible generosity of our amazing Franky Fund partner. Sweet Debo came to BARCS through no fault of his own, clearly not feeling well—he had been peeing blood and vocalizing his discomfort. During his initial veterinary evaluation, x-rays revealed the source of his pain and the bloody urine: two large bladder stones. It was then determined that Debo would need to visit one of our wonderful Franky Fund partner for a cystotomy (bladder stone removal surgery) to relieve his pain and restore his quality of life. Once under the care of the LAC team, Debo underwent a successful surgery where both bladder stones—and a blood clot—were removed. He stayed with the LAC team overnight for monitoring, and once he was medically cleared, he returned to BARCS to continue his recovery and his journey toward finding a loving home. Back at BARCS, Debo has been like a whole new kitty with his health restored—he’s gone from a grumpy boy clearly in discomfort to a lovable chatterbox who’s as sweet as he is adorable. Now, Debo’s ready for a loving home to call his own and would be thrilled to meet his perfect match. Thank you to Liberty Animal Clinic for all of the love and care you give to the BARCS animals who come through your doors! We would not be able to do what we do without them—and without YOU, our Franky Fund donors. This program relies completely on private donations. Please help us always be ready to save animals like Debo by giving to our Franky Fund. You can donate on this link https://www.barcs.org/franky-fund (fb)

Poorly Drawn Pets is BACK…and this year includes a glow-up with a few changes you’ll want to “paws” and read. PARTICIPATE: To get a digital portrait of your pet, you must use this form: https://form.jotform.com/251345274730151 The form allows you to upload your pet’s photo and pay with a credit card. If you prefer PayPal, you can donate through Facebook—but your photo must still be submitted through the form so we can track your entry. It’s $20 per pet’s face, and each pet must be submitted separately. *TL;DR: If you don’t fill out the form, you won’t get a drawing. 😛* THURSDAY BONUS: After submitting through the form, you’re welcome to post your pet’s photo in this post's comments. (Please note: this should be the SAME photo that you submitted on the form). Some of our artists will be doing live drawings throughout the day and MAY select pets from the comments. This is just for fun and visibility—not all Facebook comments will be drawn. Only form submissions are guaranteed a portrait. Portraits will be emailed to you from events@barcs.org as they’re completed. Please be patient—our artists will be working through the summer to finish thousands of drawings. All portraits are digital; we cannot provide physical copies. Whether your pet ends up looking like a masterpiece or a muttsterpiece (yeah, we’re stretching the puns), your donation helps care for the 12,000 animals who come through BARCS each year. Thank you for supporting this ridiculous, beloved, and totally Baltimore tradition. **Okay, but why…? This year’s format has changed due to new Meta features and AI moderation tools that limit or hide comment activity on Facebook posts. To make sure we don’t miss any submissions, we’re collecting all entries through the form. (fb)
