New York Benefit & Aid Committee for Kids, Inc.

The organization began in Washington DC by a group of young professionals and law school students who wanted to get together and help nonprofits in the city. They found that it was very expensive to attend huge benefit dinners and galas, and that it would be more fun to host smaller parties at bars for a younger crowd. The idea took off and was very successful. Then, some of the founding members moved to New York and decided to start a similar group here. Over the years, the group has consisted of young professionals and graduate students. Basically, we plan parties and donate the proceeds to a different children's charity in the city each time. There is also a volunteer aspect to our work.
