Court of the Great Northwest Imperial Empire

The Court of the Great Northwest Imperial Empire (CGNIE) is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization founded in 1973. It is more commonly known as the parent organization for Sacramento's Imperial Court and other related charitable initiatives. CGNIE operates in numerous counties across Northern California, including Alpine, Amador, Colusa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Trinity, and Yolo.

Mission and Activities

CGNIE's mission is to support the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender communities by donating to recognized organizations that focus on HIV/AIDS, social services, and youth support programs. Additionally, CGNIE promotes positive awareness of the International Court System's ideals, of which it is a proud member[1][3].

CGNIE holds annual elections to select its leadership, known as the Inspiring Monarchs, which include titles such as Emperor, Empress, and Emprex. These leaders are chosen by the community across CGNIE's service area to guide the organization with vision and wisdom[1].

The organization is known for its fundraising events, including the annual Coronation Ball, which not only celebrates the end of each reign but also raises essential funds for CGNIE's ongoing activities[2]. Over the years, CGNIE has raised over $1 million for charities, supporting a diverse range of causes and beneficiaries such as Avalon House, CARES, WEAVE, Breaking Barriers, and the American Cancer Society[2].

Structure and Governance

CGNIE is structured as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with a tax ID number of 94-2808829. It serves as the parent entity for various charitable programs, including the La Kish Hayworth Memorial Scholarship Fund, Fairy Godfathers’ Fund, and the Rainbow Festival[4]. The organization operates entirely through volunteer efforts, with members contributing their time and resources to host events and support community needs[2][3].

Community Impact and Recognition

Through its charitable work and fundraising activities, CGNIE has become a significant contributor to the Northern California community, fostering inclusivity and delivering support where it is needed most. The organization's dedication to empowering the LGBTQ+ community aligns with the broader goals of the International Court System, making it a vital part of local social and charity networks[1][3].
