The Genital Autonomy Legal Defense and Education Fund trains attorneys and secures the financial resources needed to support precedent-setting court cases to protect all children from non-therapeutic genital cutting customs (e.g. circumcision). GALDEF envisions a world where the rights of children to bodily integrity and future autonomy over their genitals and their sexuality are respected and protected. Our mission is to support impact litigation that expands protection of at-risk children's bodily integrity, genital autonomy and human rights, regardless of sex or gender identity; to expand awareness in the legal community, as well as the general public; to build coalitions of support for children’s bodily integrity rights; and to raise the funds necessary to assist with the costs of litigation that advances the GALDEF mission.
