Globally at least 2 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with feces. Women and children in the developing world spend over 200 million hours every day collecting water from distant often polluted sources for up to 10 miles at a time. The weight of water that women in the developing world carry on their heads is commonly 20kg or 45 pounds which is as heavy as the maximum airport luggage allowance.
