Sinatra had his very first lesson with Laura @bushelbarns today! When new horses arrive, we don’t rush them. They get time to settle in, learn the rhythms of the farm, and realize they’re safe. Sinatra came with a bit of a reputation—kicking, especially when his hind legs were handled. But what we have seen since his arrival is less "bad boy," more heartbreak: a horse who shuts down and checks out, convinced that whatever’s about to happen isn’t up to him. Our job is to flip the script. Through kind, reward-based training, we’ll help Sinatra realize he does get a say—and that things can be done with him, not to him. Luckily, his most recent home did a great job laying the groundwork, so there’s still curiosity behind those ocean eyes. Service Day!! Thank you to Winston-Salem hospitality staff (special shout-out to our friends at @helswsnc ), @diageo_na and @astraltequila for spending an afternoon helping out around the farm. It's amazing the amount that service workers can accomplish in three hours! They absolutely tackled our project list with time to spare 💪 It was a busy day of mucking, washing buckets, bowls and troughs, as well as fence and tree work, with lots of laughs in between - and it proves how BIG things can get done when we all pitch in. #communitysupport #wsnc #volunteer #service #hospitality (fb)
