A story from one of our open homes... On the day her world changed, she chose to bake. In a stranger’s kitchen, with hands that had been through more than they should, she measured, mixed, and created something sweet. A strawberry cake — soft and fluffy, filled with the kind of warmth she deserved to feel. She didn’t just bake for herself. She eagerly shared slices with every caseworker and volunteer who walked through the door, offering joy in a moment that could have been only sorrow. Because even on the hardest days, kids are still just kids. Looking for connection. Finding comfort in little things.
