Founded in 1986 by members of the Sigma Pi chapter of ESA International, Casa Helotes aims to address the needs of seniors in the City of Helotes and surrounding communities. Initially, the organization provided meal services, which eventually expanded to include a central location for community activities and social gatherings.

The mission of Casa Helotes is to enhance the quality of life for its senior members by offering various programs and services tailored to their unique needs and interests. The center fosters a culture of respect, compassion, and inclusion, empowering older adults to lead active, purposeful lives and age with dignity.

Activities and Services

Casa Helotes offers a wide range of activities, including:

• Bingo: Weekly bingo sessions.
• Crochet and Quilting: Creative groups for craft enthusiasts.
• Bible Study: Regular biblical study sessions.
• Line Dancing: Dance classes to promote physical activity and fun.
• Balance and Fitness Classes: Sessions such as balance classes and Texercise, led by local professionals.
• Card Games and Dominoes: Various card and domino games.
• Pool: Opportunities for social interaction during pool games.
• Diamond Painting: Creative art sessions.

In addition to these activities, Casa Helotes serves congregate meals for seniors aged 60 and older, five days a week, under a contract with the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG).

The center averages around 200 meals served weekly and continues to be a cornerstone for community engagement and support in the Helotes area.
