Lebanon Museum Foundation

The Lebanon Museum Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Lebanon, Oregon. Established with the aim of preserving and educating the community about the local history and culture, the foundation operates under the principles of tax-exempt charitable, scientific, and educational purposes.

Purpose and Activities

The primary purpose of the Lebanon Museum Foundation is to collect, preserve, and share the stories and artifacts of Lebanon and its surrounding area. This is achieved through interpretive programs, collections, and publications that aim to educate the public and foster an appreciation for regional history. The foundation holds in trust materials collected or entrusted to it for the benefit of the local community, although it may deaccession items in accordance with ethical standards and guidelines.

Governance and Structure
  • Membership: The foundation allows membership for individuals, families, businesses, and corporations, offering various categories with associated fees.

  • Board of Directors: The organization is overseen by a Board of Directors, which has the authority to establish various committees. Among these, an Executive Committee is empowered to make ongoing decisions, including financial and budgetary choices, between board meetings. Other committees may serve advisory roles or exercise board functions.

  • Officers: The foundation's leadership includes a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and potentially other officers as determined by the Board. These positions are elected annually and can be reelected without term limits.

Amendments to Governance

The bylaws of the Lebanon Museum Foundation can be altered, amended, or repealed by a majority vote of the Board of Directors at a properly convened meeting. Any changes must then be approved by a majority of the membership at an annual or specially called meeting.

Legal Status

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Lebanon Museum Foundation is eligible to receive tax-deductible donations and operates under the relevant provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. This status underscores its commitment to serving public charitable interests without profit motives.

I work in a nonprofit and listing our organization on Eduo.org helped us reach new audiences and even new volunteers. It’s easy to use and feels built with love.
