In 1976 IWICs mission was defined to aid and assist Native American Indian people and to strengthen the family and community respecting cultural values. The center underwent a significant transformation in 2012 when its name and mission were changed to Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake UICSL to better reflect the evolving needs and trends of Native Americans who are now increasingly migrating to urban areas. Today Our mission aligned with our vision statement is designed to effectively address the unique needs of Utahs urban Indian population.
