The Big C Society®
The Letterwinners Society of Cal Athletics, founded in 1908. On February 12th, 1908, the athletes from intercollegiate varsity sports at the University of California at Berkeley founded The Big C Society® in order to establish the standards for earning a varsity athletic letter. Now organized as a 501(c)3 charity, The Big C Society® is the varsity alumni network and letter winners society of Cal Athletics, that today operates as a specialized media organization. It produces varsity alumni spotlights (podcasts and ‘video chats’) and other media that profiles former Cal student-athletes in their post-sports careers. It also provides supplemental funding to Cal's non-revenue sports, its seriously injured athletes and to events and programs that connect and support Cal's athletes for life.
