Tbatulabals of Kern Valley The Tubatulabal Tribe. The valley of the Kern River has been the home of three distinct bands which are collectively named Tbatulabal. The name Tubatulabal which is loosely translated as Pinenut Eaters The Tbatulabal people have always occupied the lower regions of the Southern Sierra Nevada surrounding the North and South Forks of the Kern River. The enduring legacy of our people who have lived in the Kern River Valley for countless generations.
