FATTY ACID RESEARCH INSTITUTE ADVANCING THE KNOWLEDGE OF FATTY ACIDS AND HEALTH Who we areThe Fatty Acid Research Institute is a nonprofit foundation that brings together nutrition scientists and biostatistical experts with strong publication records and expertise in fatty acids to accelerate discovery of the relationships between fatty acids especially omega3 and health. Why we careFatty acids are integral components of all human diets and the specific mixture of fatty acids we consume can have important health consequences. Diets deficient in the marine omega3 fatty acids EPA and DHA can increase risk for major health problems like heart disease stroke loss of mental function and have been shown to increase risk for premature death. Knowing the levels of omega3 fatty acids in your own blood can empower you to take action to optimize levels by changing your dietary or supplementation habits.
