Overview

The Fine Arts Affiliates of California State University at Long Beach (FAA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students in the arts at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Founded in 1963, it has been providing scholarships to students majoring in the arts for over fifty years.

Mission

Programs and Activities

FAA organizes various social and cultural experiences, including day trips to local arts organizations, gardens, and historical sites. One notable event was an overnight trip to Avalon to view the Chihuly Glass Exhibit.

The organization also hosts other events such as bridge games and cultural gatherings, providing members with opportunities to engage with the arts and build relationships within the community. These activities were temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic but continued to support scholarships.

Scholarship Support

The Fine Arts Affiliates have endowed a scholarship to ensure perpetual support for CSULB students in the arts. Over the years, they have donated in excess of $600,000 to benefit students in the College of the Arts.

Membership

Membership is open to all who wish to support the arts at CSULB. It offers flexible participation options, allowing members to choose their level of engagement without requiring regular meetings for general members. Members can participate in events, join excursions, or be more involved by joining the board.
