Young Investors Group
Overview
The Young Investors Group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States, committed to empowering at-risk youth through financial education and career development. The mission focuses on equipping black youth with skills in finance and technology to avoid risky behaviors and make informed decisions, both personally and professionally[1][2].
History
The organization was founded by Kezia Hendricks, whose motivation stemmed from her personal experiences. She initiated research in 2014 following her sibling's incarceration at a young age, aiming to address mass juvenile incarceration and generational poverty. The program officially began in June 2018, and the organization received its non-profit certification in October 2018[2].
Programs and Goals
Young Investors Group operates through three pillars of investment: self, economic, and community. Its programs teach emotional intelligence, financial management, real estate investing, and wealth management. The goal is to reduce financial illiteracy and decrease the wealth gap among disadvantaged youth, particularly in high crime and low-income areas[1][2].
Vision
The organization envisions a future where every young person is empowered with self-awareness, financial literacy, and technology skills. This empowerment is expected to lead to safer and more prosperous communities by reducing risky behaviors and youth incarceration[2].
Leadership and Partnerships
The board includes members such as Jacqueline "Jackie" Glass and Katie Stanley, each contributing unique skills and expertise to the organization. Partnerships with community leaders and professionals are key to providing youth with valuable knowledge and opportunities[2].
