Comprised of 15 Tribes that traditionally subsistence harvests polar bears, ANCC works to ensure that: Alaska Native peoples are at the forefront of management decisions related to polar bears; subsistence users have a forum through which to coordinate tribally driven harvest management; and sustainability of the harvest and the health of polar bears and our communities are promoted effectively. Our mission is to respect, conserve, and manage polar bears while protecting the hunt and traditional uses of polar bears and their habitat based on our knowledge and appropriate scientific principles.
