Peer Education Program of Los Angeles Incorporated

Follow Message Edit

The mission of PEP/LA and PEP/INTERNATIONAL is to educate both youth and "Trainers" to reach their respective populations with specific strategies to avoid an exposure to HIV. Teen peer educators share their messages with youth in probation centers, group homes, residential facilities, high schools, teen homeless shelters and other youth agencies. They provide communication skills to help with decision-making and negotiation, thus empowering adolescents with positive sexuality and healthy choices. The educational outreach is powerfully endorsed with personal testimonies of our friends living with HIV/AIDS who courageously emphasize the urgency of HIV prevention through education. "Satellite PEPs" are developed in underserved communities to make the HIV/AIDS prevention messages culturally appropriate.
