Description

Danielle Byron Henry Migraine Foundation

The Danielle Byron Henry Migraine Foundation is a U.S. nonprofit organization established in 2016 in memory of Danielle Byron Henry, who struggled with severe migraines and passed away in 1999. The foundation is dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals affected by migraines.

Mission and Programs

The foundation's mission is to empower people with migraines to find relief, resilience, and hope. It focuses on several key programs:

  • Migraine at School: This initiative provides essential resources to schools and educators, aiming to create an inclusive environment for students managing migraines. The program includes lesson plans and awareness materials to ensure that no child's education is hindered by migraine.

  • Wellness for Migraine: Offers free yoga and mindfulness sessions designed to reduce stress and enhance mind-body connection, helping to alleviate migraine symptoms.

  • Migraine Management: A six-week program that teaches proven techniques like Autogenic Training and Biofeedback. Over 1,000 participants have graduated, equipping them with practical tools to manage migraines effectively.

Collaboration and Vision

The foundation collaborates with the University of Utah Department of Neurology’s Outreach Program to operate "Headache School," a educational initiative aimed at reducing suffering through education and support. The long-term vision includes opening a comprehensive migraine treatment center in Utah to improve understanding and management of migraine disease in both schools and workplaces.

Establishment and Legacy

The foundation was started by Dr. Henry, along with Diane and Elizabeth, in an effort to honor Danielle's life and legacy. Their slogan, "Shine Her Light," symbolizes the desire to bring hope and awareness to those affected by migraines, ensuring that Danielle's story inspires positive change for others.
